For baby, grand and other heavy high valued pianos, we highly recommend that a custom wooden crate be made in your home before being moved. We wrap the piano in our specially designed International wrapping material which will foster a high level of protection. This will ensure that it is handled with the best care while being moved from your home and into a shipping container. The crate also enables our packing crews to gauge and maximize the space in the container so there isn’t any pressure put onto the piano.
There are some regulations and key points about pianos for which you should be made aware of. First, is that ivory key pianos being transported to certain cities / destinations usually are not permitted and if they are, may require some special permits, which we are more than happy to discuss with you about when applicable.
As we are not per say Certified Piano Specialists, we will not tune the piano when it arrives at the destination and you must contact a specialist to have this done.
Our custom wood crating is for those fragile, high value or sentimental items. Each item is carefully measured and a tailor-made wooden crate is made.
All of our wood is treated and passes all standards for international shipments. Crating ensures the highest level of protection from weather, vibration and any other unforeseeable factors. Not sure which items you should crate? That’s ok. We have done this for a very long time, so here are some recommendations of items that usually get crated:
If you are unsure about a certain item and if it should be crated, then please contact us and one of our specialists can help advise you.
No matter the size, weight or type of safe you own, we can move it. It is without question, that all valuable items in the safe should be removed and carried with you during your travel to the destination. It is also required by customs that the safe be kept unlocked during its travel, and it is our recommendation that the door of the safe be removed if and where possible.
Religious statues, Buddha statues, paintings, and anything else that could even look like “fine art” will require what is called a Fine Arts Export Permit. Sometimes, it could be a decorative statue that you paid very little for at a local market. Not every piece of art requires a permit. You’ll be glad to know that your son’s or daughter’s finger painting does not need a permit 😊
This is a very easy process and we handle it all. We gather all the Fine Arts you have and take them to the Department of Fine Arts where we will obtain the permit to export.
The good news is, that no matter how many Fine Arts you have (in reasonable quantity), we will only need to obtain one permit for them all.
At USP Relocations (Thailand) we have seen and moved it all. From 15 ft long teak dining tables to marble statues that even the great Michelangelo would be proud of.
No matter the item (more times than not) we can move it, ship it or even store it safely and securely. Of course, if you are ever in doubt about certain item or piece of furniture, then please reach out to us so we can help you.
Unfortunately, while you can purchase Buddha heads, hands & feet all over the Kingdom of Thailand at local markets, Thailand does not allow you to import them or export them from the country. This also applies to any Buddha statue that is not a full body (partial). If found in the shipping container, they will be taken out and your shipment will most likely be delayed and incur port storage charges. We do not want that to happen to you.
You could run the risk of taking them with you on the plane, but we highly advise against this and recommended that you either sell or give them away before your departure.
